This weekend, before the really miserable weather arrives, I shall be starting to put my garden away for the winter.
I’ll be tidying it up, doing a little pruning and washing off the paths. I’ll also be putting away the stuff that sits out in the garden for half the year, such as my above-ground water features and the heavy timber furniture. First though, I’ll make sure the permanent marks I’ve chiselled, engraved and inked onto the furniture and the other equipment are still clear to see and go over them if necessary. Then the whole lot will be locked away inside my very secure and alarmed outbuilding (built as a sound studio with very thick walls, double doors and quadruple glazing!)
Can’t wait!
Theft from the garden is one of those crimes that’s remained at pretty much the same levels for the past decade and so if you don’t want to see your new stainless steel spade at a knock down price down at the local car boot sale this winter then maybe you might want to do the same as me.
There’s lots of advice here: http://thecrimepreventionwebsite.com/gardens-lighting-access-and-alarms/490/preventing-crime-in-the-garden-outbuildings-and-garage/
