The Crime Prevention Website

I can always tell when the weather is improving in the UK by the number of Home Security Surveys being conducted on this website. Actually, if you look at the numbers spread over the year, the numbers spike with the clock change (March 26th), in the week before Easter school holidays and in the two weeks leading up to the school summer holidays. It then goes quiet until the nights start to draw in again in October and especially around the clock change which this year is October 29th.

Of course, I don’t mind when you do one of these anonymous surveys, because each time someone does one I know that I’ve encouraged yet one more person to take a serious look at their home’s security arrangements, which is the whole point of it.

It doesn’t take too long to work your way through the questions and at the end of it you’ll have a tailor-made security report to look at. Pop in your email address and you can save it to your own computer for future reference too. Don’t worry, your email address is only used for that one single purpose and is never used again for any reason.

Since I launched this website back in 2012 6,319 people have taken the survey and the average score stands at 60.24. I would like everyone to be scoring at least 70, because that’s the sort of home that is unlikely to attract the thieves. See what yours scores!

You might be interested to learn that since 2012 the top ten counties that have conducted the most surveys are:

  1. Buckinghamshire
  2. London
  3. Berkshire
  4. Lancashire
  5. Essex
  6. Hampshire
  7. West Midlands
  8. Kent
  9. Surrey
  10. West Yorkshire

The survey will take you about 15 minutes or so to complete and it’s free!

Why not give it a go; you never know what you might learn!
