Congratulations to Framwellgate Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team who were successful at court last Friday in obtaining a full premises closure order on a house In Ushaw Moor.

People often forget that these orders make it possible to deal with extreme problems of anti-social behaviour and so it’s worth republishing Durham Constabulary's story of success on these pages..........

The order will be in force for three months and prohibits anyone from entering the property, in Whitehouse Lane without the permission of the police.

It's a criminal offence to breach this order and anyone who does so will be arrested.

The occupants have now been evicted and criminal proceedings are also in progress.

The order was necessary to stop the anti-social behaviour which was due to the actions of the occupants and visitors to the property.

Sgt Mark Mallatratt, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "The police and Durham County Council will not tolerate anti-social behaviour within our communities. In this case the offender undertook a relentless campaign of tormenting the community and his neighbours with drink and drug-fuelled parties and excessive noise.

"We will use all the powers we have to tackle these issues head on and restore peace to our communities.

"The granting of the order is a great result, and reinforces the message that the community will not accept such behaviour.

"We have worked closely with the county council to ensure the problem was tackled from all angles."

If you have a problem with anti-social behaviour in your area please don’t hesitate to contact the police on 101 and we will do all we can to ensure that the problem is resolved.

I'm sure the NPT and the neighbours must be highly satisfied with the outcome!
