Ben and I recently received an unexpected, but welcome message from a former police officer in Australia. This gentleman heads up a security organisation and has been approached by one of the State governments to do some work for them to reduce household burglary.
They’ve been asked to undertake a great many risk assessments of residential properties, particularly vulnerable people’s homes and those that have already been burgled (That’ll be ‘repeat victimisation theory’ coming into play). As part of his research for the project he’s been looking for online tools that may be available to assist with this work and he came across our Home Security Survey, which (and I quote) “addresses issues and factors that are not being addressed [by Australian] interstate police risk assessment tools”.
We’ve been working with him to see if we can provide a more branded version of the Survey and now we’re waiting for a decision. Even if the decision is not to proceed it was great to receive such a request, because it’s one more feather in our caps for the survey.
BTW if you haven’t yet taken our survey then now’s a great time to do it. Not only will it help you plan your 2016 security improvements, but by doing it now you’ll have a chance to enter our free prize draw to win a light switch timer – kindly donated by our friends at Switched on Products. Go on, give it a go (Just like the Aussies, you know it makes sense!)
