Hi all, Ben here with a fresh recording of a scammer that called me earlier today.
Beware, the following contains some strong language (both from the scammer and from me - I got a bit irritated with him I'm afraid).
I obviously knew it was a scam call from the start, but it's worth sticking around for the finale. This recording picks up just after I answered a call from a withheld number claiming to be BT - they said they had detected some errors from my "BT Router" and they reeled off a load of my personal information to "prove" they were who they said they were. I told them my phone drops calls sometimes and asked for a number to call them back on in case I could actually get some concrete information about them, but they just gave me a made up number, that's the number I'm taking down as the recording starts.
The odd voice/giggling you can hear in the background are my colleges in my office, I did some editing to clean up the audio.
So please remember guys, if anyone calls you purporting to be from BT or any other company - even if they have some of your personal information - hang up immediately and call that company back using their real customer telephone number. Feel free to have a bit of fun with them and waste a bit of their time first, of course ;)
