On Friday, 20 November, Sussex Police celebrated an awards evening with its 180 cadets supported by Lord Lieutenant Peter Field, Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne, ACC Robin Smith, Chief Superintendent Steve Whitton, Temporary Chief Superintendent Di Roskilly and Superintendent James Collis and District Commanders along with their family and friends.
The award ceremony is an opportunity for Sussex Police to show its gratitude and appreciation for the huge commitment shown by all of our volunteer cadets who support the organisation keeping Sussex safe.
This year's Sue Elliott Memorial award went to Senior Cadet Joshua Funnell of the Chichester cadets as he has displayed excellent mentoring skills, actively developed the skills of others, supported the leadership team and his positive 'can do' attitude.
The Team of the Year award went to Adur and Worthing cadets. Among their many achievements was their commitment to providing crime prevention advice to vulnerable people within the community and for their support in setting up the Junior Neighbourhood Watch Campaign.
There were also eight individual Unit awards and 33 Leavers certificates presented.
TCPW Comment
Well done to all the Sussex Cadets for their valuable work and to those individuals and teams who have been recognised for their particular commitments during the past year. These young people represent a fantastic role model for others and I am so pleased that their work has been recognised by Sussex Police and the local community. I particularly like the fact that the Adur and Worthing cadets have been providing crime prevention advice!
