It’s been about 18 months since the Crime Prevention Website linked up with Suffolk Constabulary, so I am delighted to be able to tell you that, as of today, we’re now reciprocally linked with the Neighbourhood Watch for Suffolk’s county town - Ipswich.
Their website says this about Neighbourhood Watch (NW):
Everyone has a right to feel safe and secure where they live. NW members promote that right by helping to build strong, friendly [and] active communities where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen.
NW schemes' activities are characterised by their diversity, taking in everything from home security improvements to youth workshops to neighbourhood clean-up projects. Communities help lead the way. NW in short, aims for neighbours to help each other.
Can’t argue with that!
Neighbourhood Watch for Ipswich is represented by the Ipswich Area Network Forum, (IANF), an elected body of representatives from the five key areas, comprising all the wards within Ipswich.
The IANF is a voluntary body, which acts as a partner for the community to provide education and awareness on policing and crime related matters, as well as a channel to take forward issues that an individual or a neighbourhood may have.
The IANF works very closely with the Community Watch Liaison Officer for Ipswich Police, helping and encouraging neighbourhoods to start-up and maintain NW schemes.
If you live in Ipswich and are interested about preventing crime and would like to start up a Watch in your road or become a member of an existing one then do please use their contact page and their Community Watch Liaison Officer will get in touch with you. You can also receive news about crime and crime prevention straight to your inbox by registering on their site. Obviously, being a keen and long-time supporter of Neighbourhood Watch I hope you do!
Do please visit their website to find out a lot more!
