Lancashire Police are linking up with leading building society the Marsden to run a week of action starting today to raise awareness of fraud, burglary and how to protect your property.
Neighbourhood police teams will be visiting six of Marsden Building Society's branches; Barrowford, Colne, Burnley, Nelson, Lytham and Garstang throughout the week from 10am to 2pm to chat to members about various potential frauds and scams.
Whilst anyone can be a victim of a fraud or scam, a high percentage of these are targeted at the elderly. The Marsden work hard to train their staff on 'knowing their customers' so that they are aware should any unusual behaviour or activity occurs. The team can be alerted by changes in transactional behaviour such as increased cash withdrawals over a period of time or a change in circumstances for their members.
