When did you last consider the security of your home?
Being a bit sad in this regard I think about it most days, but particularly when I learn that a nearby neighbour got burgled or someone close-by had their car broken into. And it’s a good thing I do think like that because research into victimisation tells us that if a neighbour either side or across the road gets broken into or has something nicked from the front garden then your chances of also becoming a victim shoot up and don’t start coming down again for around six weeks.
So, why not spend just 15 minutes working your way through our Home Security Survey this week. What else have you got to do that’s more important than your home security, apart from going on holiday or having a nice time?
If you’re going to take the survey there are some things you ought to know first:
- We do not ask you for your name or address
- We use your email just once to send you your free report and it is never used again
- By taking the survey you are helping everyone. The anonymous data derived from the completed surveys is used to inform our advice pages and our Newsletter, so the public and the police can learn more about the nation’s home security arrangements
- Because we are a ‘proper’ website we operate in a responsible way and strictly adhere to our published Privacy Policy. (See About)
As I write this there is something going down in Lancashire. It seems that our friends in Lancashire Police are promoting the survey right now as part of an anti-burglary campaign – accidentally leaving windows open during the summer weeks – that sort of thing.
Lancashire Police is one of several police services that now link to TCPW and here are the rest listed below showing the linking page on their sites - for your info:
- Bedfordshire
- Cambridgeshire (South Cam Cops Site)
- Cumbria
- Durham
- Essex
- Gloucestershire
- Hampshire
- Hertfordshire (Intranet only)
- Hong Kong (Intranet only)
- Lancashire
- London Metropolitan
- Northamptonshire (intranet only)
- South Yorkshire

- Thames Valley
- Wayne County USA (One example of several from US police services)
- West Yorkshire (Intranet only)
