Bramcote is in the Broxtowe district of Nottinghamshire, about five miles west of Nottingham and today it is famous for car theft!
According to the Nottingham Post (online) four UNLOCKED cars were entered by thieves overnight on the 7th and 8th June.
The stand out streets were:
- Derby Road – brown leather wallet taken
- Valmont Road – cash taken
- Rufford Avenue – something, but don’t know what was taken
What’s more the cars were parked in roads just 50 metres apart!
- Local PCSO Chris Archer asked that people please lock their vehicles when they’re not using them. The police also issued the following crime prevention advice:
Ensure your vehicle is locked and secure. - Don't leave valuables on show in your vehicle. That old coat on the back seat may be worthless, but a thief won't know that or that the pockets are empty.
- Don't leave your wallet or mobile phone in your car even if you're just nipping somewhere for a few minutes. It only takes a thief seconds!
- Park your car in your garage or on your driveway if possible and try to park your vehicle in a well lit area.
- Don't leave your keys in your vehicle when you are not in it.
- Activate your alarm and immobiliser if you have one.
- Make use of security devices such as steering locks and other devices.
It was only yesterday that I published a story about taking notice of car theft crime posters and here we are again with four more unnecessary crime reports to be added to Nottinghamshire Police’s list, time wasted for both the police and the victims and some easy beer or drug money for the thieves.
I wonder where the next famous place will be.
