The Crime Prevention Website

I thought it might be useful to create a new page in References to list the new Government’s ‘Plan of Action’ for their fight against crime; as extracted from the Conservative 2015 Manifesto

The Government intends to fulfil these commitments with a lot less money and Home office funding of the police is to be cut by a further 18% or so.  The Home Secretary believes that these cuts can go ahead without harming the fight against crime. The Police Federation on the other hand doesn’t agree suggesting that the police are already on their knees having lost 17,000 police officers and 17,000 police staff since 2010.

I’ve no doubt we’ll see even more cooperation between police services to realise economies of scale and don’t be surprised to see much larger police divisions requiring fewer managers.  I have no idea what’s going to happen to what remains of the police crime prevention service, but I doubt there will be much of it left.

The Police and Crime Commissioners can breathe a sigh of relief as the election of a Conservative Government has saved their bacon. The next PCC elections will be in 2016.
