I can tell from the heightened activity on this website that lots of you are getting ready for some weekend DIY. March has been this website’s busiest month since we launched the site nearly 3 years ago, with 40,666 visits across those 31 days; 16% higher than the same month last year. I can also tell from the pages visited that it’s the garden that’s going to be top of the agenda.
Can I suggest you do some of the following:
- Cut the front hedge down so that passersby can actually see the front windows of your house
- Clean the grime off the alarm’s bell box so it stands out
- If you’re going to plant new shrubs or trees in the front garden remove the labels and rake over the ground so that the newly planted shrub or tree doesn’t stand out to a thief (they end up at car boot sales)
- Wire up and chain up those hanging baskets to their brackets to prevent their easy removal (another car boot sale item)
- Clean off the front outside light fittings to maximise their light output
- Haven’t got an outside light? Please install one!
- Take a look at the front of your house. Are you displaying things of value through the window? Is there stuff in the front garden that could be stolen? Have you marked your plant pots?
- Do similar stuff in the back garden and please secure that insecure shed!
Have a great weekend everyone and keep ‘em peeled!
