The Crime Prevention Website

Today is my first day back at work after a much needed break with my family down in my favourite place in Cornwall – Watergate Bay. As usual the weather was mixed, but with the sun winning out most often we all had a great time visiting favourite places such as Bedruthan Steps, Padstow, Rocke and, of course, the wonderful Watergate Bay itself. We even hired bicycles and pedalled our way from Wadebridge to Padstow along the Camel Estuary; something I thoroughly recommend, so long as you don’t mind a little saddle soreness along the way back!

The house we hired had a pretty good internet connection and so I was able to monitor my emails and keep an eye on this site’s activity – and what a lot of activity!

With almost three years of data now available I can see patterns emerging from our visitor figures and there is no doubt at all that March to May and October to November are the two main periods when people take a serious look at their home security needs. This pattern is very much reflected in our visitor numbers, which continue to rise and break previous records:

  •          Highest 4 week period visitor number (ended Saturday 7 March) 34,371 – 19% higher than the same period last year!
  •          Highest single week visitor number (ended Saturday 14 March) 9,089 – 13% higher than the same period last year!
  •          Highest single day visitor number (Monday 16 March) 1,519

So, my message to my police and Neighbourhood Watch followers is simple.  Deliver your home security messages NOW! It is now that people across the UK are actively looking for advice and with the promise of good weather and longer days to come your advice is going to be put into action, guaranteeing the biggest bang for your buck – so to speak. Yes, crime prevention messages are important all year round, but for best effect advice delivered at the moment it’s needed has got to be the right thing to do.

If you are one of the many thousands of people who have found this site on a Google search then I sincerely hope you find what you’re looking for. If not then let me know what it is and I’ll add the information to help you and my future visitors.

To borrow the old Home Office tag line from the early 1990s: Crime – Together we’ll crack it
