Just as happened last year (and the year before) this website has seen a very large surge in visitor numbers over the past week as people start realising that the new TV's, game consoles, jewellery, bikes and other valuable items acquired during Xmas need some extra protection!
Sunday saw our largest ever audience for a Sunday since we launched the site and the popular pages visited on that day included those on fencing, alarms, garden outbuildings and door security.
A great deal of this newly acquired property can be marked and registered, so can I suggest you visit the large section on this website devoted to property marking. Should you get a visit from a thief and lose some of your stuff there is a greater chance of getting it back if it’s been marked. Not only that, but you’ll be helping the police find the culprit and bring charges against them.
I’m now waiting for my brand new alarm system to be installed. My old system has been in place since the early 1990s and was in need of replacement, so I’m rather looking forward to this new wireless system. I’ll have the option of police attendance should I choose it, but at the very least it’ll text me should things go wrong. I’ll be able to turn it on and off using a key fob too, which will be very convenient. My near neighbour (who was burgled on New Year’s Eve) is going for the same system and we’ve agreed to be keyholders for each other.
What are you doing to improve your home security this year; I’d love to hear from you.
