This is an interesting piece on myfoxphilly.com concerning former police officer, Jon Stark, who has been handing out signs for stores to put up all over New York City and Philadelphia that say: “Do not enter with hoodie or mask, if so you are now trespassing”.
He says “This is not a racial problem that we have, this is basically a crime problem, we look at it strictly as crime prevention,”
Follow the link below and make your own mind up.
For the record this isn’t new as many of us have seen UK banks and fast food outlets warning motorcyclists to remove their headgear and shopkeeper signs asking people to turn down their hoods before entering a shop.
Many retail outlets have CCTV in place to help deter robbery and theft (and shoplifting has been rising steeply across the UK remember) and so a policy requesting hoods down while in the premises and no masks would seem pretty reasonable, especially if the shopkeeper had already been robbed by people wearing such attire. There will be a few people who might object on religious grounds, which this short program doesn’t address.
What do you reckon?
