The Help for Victims website has been created by the Police National Legal Database with the support of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner West Yorkshire and in collaboration with Yorkshire and Humber Victim Support.
The Police National Legal Database (PNLD) is wholly owned by the Police and Crime Commissioner West Yorkshire and has been providing online information resources since 1994. For further information go to www.pnld.co.uk and www.askthepolice.uk.
Based on the success of PNLD's ask the police website, The Help for Victims database is intended to provide an online resource of questions and answers for victims of and witnesses to crime, derived from the Victims' Code, and where the answer can't be found an ability to ask a relevant question. It also provides information about how victims and witnesses should be treated within the Criminal Justice System and offers advice for those affected by crime.
It is not a crime prevention resource and neither is it nationwide, but the generic information is nevertheless useful for everyone.
